Set in late-19th-century Iceland, Godland follows a Danish priest sent to build a church in a remote settlement. His inability to speak Icelandic, his failing health, and the indifference of the land gradually dismantle his authority and certainty. Shot in stark wet-plate-inspired visuals, the film renders colonial encounter as slow sensory erosion — of language, theology, and bodily endurance — rather than political confrontation.
