A Ghost Story
David Lowery’s A Ghost Story (2017) follows a sheet-draped ghost — played by Casey Affleck — who remains in the house he shared with his wife (Rooney Mara) after his death. Shot in 1.33:1, with minimal dialogue and long, static takes, the film observes decades of human life, loss and renewal within a single domestic space. It is a formally precise, emotionally resonant meditation on memory, materiality and deep time — not a supernatural story, but a structural poem about what endures when people do not.
