Hoop Dreams
Hoop Dreams follows William Gates and Arthur Agee, two Black Chicago teenagers, over five years as they navigate high school basketball, family instability, injury, and college recruitment. Shot over 250 hours and edited down from more than ten hours of footage, it avoids narration, score-driven emotion, or didactic framing. Its power lies in duration, restraint, and the quiet accumulation of ordinary consequence.
