3 Idiots
Rajkumar Hirani · 2009
3 Idiots (2009) is a 164-minute Hindi-language comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi as engineering students navigating pressure, friendship and self-definition, it uses parallel timelines to contrast institutional conformity with individual integrity. Adapted loosely from Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone, it balances satire with sentiment, favouring emotional clarity over formal experiment. It won the Filmfare Award for Best Film and became a landmark commercial and cultural success across Asia.
