Misericordia
Alain Guiraudie · 2024
Alain Guiraudie’s Misericordia is a 2024 French arthouse crime drama set in rural Aveyron, where a man’s impulsive killing unravels into a web of quiet complicity, false alibis and unspoken bargains. Shot by Claire Mathon and starring Jacques Develay, Catherine Frot and Félix Kysyl, it treats violence, desire and concealment with unblinking restraint — no score, no close-ups, no moral punctuation. Premiered at Cannes, it won the Louis Delluc Prize and drew acclaim for its tonal control and understated dread.
